We’re very pleased to announce that the next art installation has just been locked in: OYSTER. To be held at Testing Grounds, as part of the National Gallery of Victoria July-August programme MEL&NYC.

Opening Friday July 20th –August 8th OYSTER is an art installation of oyster shells that displays this decline and current restoration of oyster populations in both cities, over decades.

Delicious. Decadent. Divine, and Diminishing: OYSTER is an art installation about quantity and appetite. The Wadawurrung and Boonwurrung people – the original Melbournians and the Lenape people – the first New Yorkers, ate the abundant oysters of their lands. When Europeans arrived they relished the abundance, and quickly oyster populations declined in both MEL&NYC.

Presented by Victorian independent arts company with artists Penelope Bartlau, Fingle Sin and Luna Gawler.
