Bunraku Baby

Developed for the Melbourne Immigration Museum’s focus on Japan Festival -  “Visit Kimono: Osaka’s Golden Age – A Celebration of Japanese Culture”, “Bunraku Baby” was a puppetry presentation of the art and history of Bunraku puppetry. Children were additionally invited to learn some Bunraku puppetry techniques in a short workshop included as a part of the performance.

“Bunraku Baby” was written and directed by Penelope Bartlau, performed by Justine Warner, Dan Goronszy and Penelope Bartlau, puppet by Rob Matson, and music composed and performed by Leah Scholes. “Bunraku Baby” was Barking Spider Visual Theatre’s second collaboration with the Melbourne Immigration Museum. The show was designed for children from 2 to 12 years of age.
